Realised projects

PROJECT PLAYGROUND

The Furahia Mtoto Foundation is a school in Arusha, where we spent a total of 4 months and were able to realise a number of projects. Around 30 children aged 2-6 attend the school.
A playground is something very special for children in Arusha. There are no public playgrounds accessible to children, like in many European countries. The first time Michaela & Sarah realised that by "playground" the locals referred to a field consisting of a soccer goal made of iron bars, they were quite speechless. The kids spent their breaks playing with an old soccer ball, about three skipping ropes and other small games (there are about 30 children in the school). Therefore Michaela & Sarah decided, in consultation with the project leader and friend Cosmas, to build one for the children.

We visited a welding shop nearby and commissioned a construction with three slides, four swings and a seesaw. With the last donations, they were even able to purchase a trampoline for the children. Volunteers continued their project and painted the equipment colourful to make it look more friendly.

SECURITY WALL PROJECT

For security reasons, it was essential to build a wall surrounding the school & playground. For this reason, we erected a 52-meter-long security wall made of concrete. To make the concrete block look more friendly we used different colours - so the new space created by Sarah and Michaela (with many donations from Austria) shines in a friendly tone.
