FAQ
Why exactly Arusha and where is it located?
Arusha is a city in Tanzania, near Mount Kilimanjaro. The city is close to our hearts because we spent a total of 4 months in Arusha. So far, we have been there twice and the next trip is already planned. It feels like our second home.
Who are the people behind the association?
The idea for the foundation came from Sarah and Michaela, who are also chairwomen and founders. Furthermore, close friends and family help out. Since everyone on the board works voluntarily and with great enthusiasm, we would like to thank our helpers very much <3. Each person is introduced individually on our social networks.
Why do you pay a membership fee?
Part of the membership fee is of course used to directly fund our projects. How much money we take from the donations depend on current projects. The membership fee is also used for account maintenance fees, fees for international bank transfers and other ongoing costs. As we also want to give something back to our supporters, that is why we will be hosting different events in the future. You can find all of the information on our social media channels.
How do I become a member?
On our website you will find the PDF "Application for membership", please fill it out and send it to us by e-mail at info@tabasamu.at and you are already a member!
How can the association be active in Africa even though the members and the board live in Austria?
It is important to us to be as transparent as possible because that is the only way to achieve great results! As the founders are both studying (social work and psychology), it is currently not possible for them to live in Africa. However, they aim to be there for a period every year to support the projects. We have been able to build a good network in Arusha with people we trust. We make sure that funds are managed transparently and well. Our network will take care of the processing on-site.
Does 100% of my donation go to Africa or does the association take a portion away?
It is important for us that every cent goes to where it is needed the most. That is why 100% of our donations go to Tanzania. The fees for international transfers are paid for by the membership fees. So absolutely every cent goes to Africa, neither the association nor the bank takes anything away.
Is it also possible to donate as a company or can only private persons do so?
Of course, anyone who wants to support the people in Africa can donate. You can also donate as a company/association/foundation. In return, however, we cannot offer classic advertising, which is why this is limited to adding your logo to our website.
Which projects are supported in Africa?
We want to get involved where we can make a difference for as many people as possible. We mainly want to use the donations to raise the living standards of people in villages surrounding Arusha. In addition, schools in Arusha will be directly supported. At the moment, one of our main focus is education for children. Big projects later on could involve helping women build up their businesses to provide them with another source of income. Possible projects for the future include raising local medical standards.
Do I have to be a member to donate?
You do not have to be a member of our foundation if you want to support us through voluntary donations.
What are the benefits of being a member?
If you support Tabasamu, you are part of a great association that aims to do something good and give a smile and hope to people who are not as privileged as most people are. You will receive newsletters, membership gifts and many other surprises.
Why should I support your association?
Our headquarters are in Lower Austria, we work transparently and always keep you up to date with annual reports so you can see what impact your donations have! Another advantage of our association is that all our activities are on a voluntary basis and we, therefore, do not have to pay for personnel costs.
How and where will I be informed about ongoing projects?
On our Instagram profile as well as on Facebook, you will constantly receive information about all our projects and get insights into our work. Furthermore, we will send our newsletter to all our members at least once a year.
