Tabasamu
because smiles connect
Welcome to the website of Tabasamu, a non-profit organisation dedicated to giving everyone a reason to smile.
What does Tabasamu mean?
The word "Tabasamu" is Swahili and means "smile".
Swahili, historically also Kiswahili, is a Bantu language and the most common lingua franca in East Africa.
We strongly believe that a smile has the power to connect people and open hearts, regardless of their cultural and ethnic differences.
Our goals
As a non-profit organisation, it is important for us to define clear and realistic goals in order to successfully achieve our mission.
We believe that education is an essential need for to a fulfilled life. Therefore, we work hard to promote educational projects and improve the standard of living for children, youth, adults and families in East Africa to ensure a hopeful and prosperous future.
An essential goal is to help children and young people without access to education to create places such as kindergartens and schools where they can have fun and enjoy early years education under pleasant conditions.
A first step is to analyse the current situation on site: What is the educational infrastructure like? What are the needs of the people, not only in urban areas but also in rural areas of Tanzania? What resources are available?
Furthermore, it is important that our goals are realistic and in line with the needs and wishes of the local people, so that our work contributes positively.
On our website you can read all about our history and our personal connection to Tanzania, get insights into our work and all our ongoing projects.
If you, too, believe that smiles unite and would like to support us in bringing our vision to life please find all options on how to support us below.
